August Wednesdays

Had enough heat and rain? Are you getting a wee bit bored? Need something to get your creative juices revved up? Well, Dori feels just about the same as you and wonders if you would like to spend Wednesdays with her at the Island Club from 9:30 to 11:45 for the next four weeks. Dori went to the Island Club today (8/2) and Maureen and Heather dropped in. She did putter with her watercolors and finished a little something. What was more important is that Maureen came up with an idea that you might enjoy. The more everyone talked, the more we thought that maybe if the summer doldrums have you tied down, you might want to meet next week to visit and dabble a little with us. We’d like to hear how you are and what you’re doing. Please join us if you can. All welcome!!

Week 1 (8/9) – Visit with each other and hear our summer stories! Putter with pencils, watercolor, and whatever you have on hand. Bring a “show and tell” piece if you like.

Week 2 (8/16) – Zen Tangles – a fun exercise with pen and ink – these “doodles” were popular years ago. Some grew into more elaborate designs adding colors. And then there are Mandalas. Come and try it, you might like it! Maureen will share her expertise.

Week 3 (8/23) – Creating hand painted greeting cards. We’ll have samples and some supplies. (Depending on the interest, we may purchase materials for you at a nominal cost). Holidays are coming – think seasonal greeting cards. Gerri Santor will show you how.

Week 4 (8/30) – Still life. Draw, paint, re-design and create a “masterpiece” from a box of “good stuff” we’ll supply. Medium of your choice – bring your supplies.

Tuesdays throughout August at the Island Club remain available for members from 9:30 to 11:45 for Open Painting. Come to the Island Club to work on personal projects. And look… before you know it, it’s September.
