In Touch

Hi all! We’ve had some weather that isn’t exactly what we expect in a typical Florida June. In fact, we made national news with our downpours and flooded streets. Even the Island Club was affected. As of today (6/21) when I was there, the upper pool side door was sandbagged but you can enter from the opposite door. There are signs to follow. In spite of the rain, our acrylic painters finished their class with Vanessa Fuller yesterday and we look forward to welcoming her back in the fall. I’d like to see your finished paintings right away. Some of you are participating in the July 4th Holiday Extravaganza coordinated by the Ambassadors and DECCA Real Estate. If you are one of those artists and want to bring along your acrylic painting to show our viewers what you accomplished thru the ACOR class, feel free to include it in your display.

I have 8 people signed up for the July 4th Show and Sale at the DECCA Re-sale office from 11AM -2:00 PM at their office near the Bella Cucina Patio – we have room for one or two more so give me a call. My phone number is in the OR Directory. BTW – the car show, food truck and games will be there too.

Now for some big news! With the expertise of C.J. Westrick, Ruth Belland, Georgette Mercado and I are working on creating this website just for ACOR. We will be “fleshing out” our history and adding things like a “Member Spotlight”, photos of recent work/activities and a whole lot more. We will not be posting personal phone numbers; we have the OR Directory for that. Not everyone can post items – it is limited to C. J. at this time.

So to begin with, I’d like you to go to the “contact us” (in the navigation bar under the heading at the top) to tell us you’ve seen the website, add a comment or two, ask a question and C. J. will respond if necessary. She is the “administrator” and the only one that can do this right now. We will not be publishing our Membership Directory since it is an open site. Non-members will be able to access our website, but we will be stating that activities are limited to Oak Run residents only. (An exception: our Art Show in Feb. 2024). If you have changed your membership information, please contact Heather so corrections can be made. As I’ve written – we’re still working on this project and hope to have it complete shortly. In the meantime, I’m asking Heather to email this “In Touch” to you, in addition to it being posted on the website. Remember, the Island Club room is available for you to use during the coming weeks.
